Nainital has the beautiful Naini Lake amidst green hills and many renowned temples. Snow View Point, at a height of 2,260-m above sea level, gives breathtakingly marvellous view of Nainital; a cable car takes tourists up or you can go on horseback. The climate has cured many of lung ailments. Trekking, horse-riding, boating, and yachting are popular pastimes.
Ranikhet is a charming hill station resting in pine-covered hills and winsome meadows. It has shady glens where you can picnic or trek up its sheer cliffs to get unforgettable views of the snow-clad Himalayas. Chaubatia’s orchards, Upat’s rich pine forests, Bhaludam with artificial lakes and picnic spots, and the quiet Khairna are other places people like to visit.
Auli, near Joshimath, is popular with skiers as it has one of Asia’s longest skiing slopes. With grassy slopes and the Alaknanda gorge on its northern side, it is also frequented by those who wish to relax.
